Glassworks Open Weekend
A glassworks in Hertford is opening it's doors to the public this coming weekend.

Visitors will be able to watch and participate in glassblowing demonstrations at Rothchild & Bickers' annual open studio in Hartham Lane on Saturday and Sunday from 11-5. There will also be mince pies and mulled wine, with handmade glassware on sale, including candle sticks, vases, bowls, lighting, tumblers, jugs and more.
Rothchild & Bickers are based Unit 7, Great Northern Works, Hartham Lane - behind Sainsbury's.

The World's Biggest Coffee Morning
Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue Service are taking part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer support on Friday 28th September from 10:30am to 12:30pm.
The charity are asking residents join them for teas, coffees, biscuits and cakes at the fire station in Old London Road. Every cup will help improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
There will also be a bric a brac stall and a chance to take part in a raffle to win some exciting prizes. There may even be some fire engines for the children to enjoy!

Support Your Local Football Club
The Mayor of Hertford and the Chairman of Hertford Town Football Club have joined forces to encourage Hertford residents to get behind their local football club at the start of the new season and attend the match taking place at the West Street ground at 3pm this coming Saturday 15th September.

The match is an FA Vase second round qualifier against Crawley Green. Entry is £6 for adults, £2 for senior citizens, and £1 for children. The Club also provides free entry to members of the Hertford Town Youth FC, and half-price entry to their parents. There is a licensed club house open to all, and food is available from 2pm. The club house stays open until the early evening, allowing people to discuss the match and catch up on other results.
The Mayor of Hertford, Cllr Jane Sartin, said: "Hertford Town Football Club plays an important part in our local community, and I hope that local residents will help to demonstrate the town’s support for it by joining me at the match on 15th September. If you have never been to a football match before, this is the moment to experience a live game!"
Peter Sinclair, Chairman of Hertford Town FC, said: "It would be great to see a strong show of support for the Club at this match. We’ve had some good results so far this season, and we hope that the club will do well in the FA Vase competition – knowing that the town is behind the team would give them a boost on Saturday."

Paralympic Torch Comes To Hertford
The Paralympic Torch will be coming to Sainsbury's Hertford store on Tuesday 14th August.
Customers will then be invited to hold the Torch and take photos during the afternoon between 2:15 and 4:45pm.
Sainsbury's will not be providing an official photographer so all photos must be taken by customers on their own equipment.
The London 2012 Paralympic Torch Relay itself runs from Friday 24th to Wednesday 29th August. National Flames will be lit at Flame Festivals in London, Belfast, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Stoke Mandeville between the 24th-28th before the Paralympic Flame is carried in a 24hr Torch Relay from Stoke Mandeville to the Olympic Stadium between the 28th-29th August, to start the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Castle Grounds Centenary
Events will take place on Sunday 22nd July to mark the centenary of Hertford Castle's grounds being open to the public.
The programme includes the Royston Town Band playing a special Band Concert to mark the occasion, with refreshments provided by St John Ambulance.
Hertford Castle Bowls Club, who met in the Castle grounds from 1925 - 1953, will be attending, offering the public an opportunity to take part in this sport.
The Friends of Hertford Castle will be leading free guided tours of the Castle, and have mounted a special exhibition to mark the centenary in the Castle Conservatory. For those who want to read more, there will be a booklet to purchase, which provides an insight into the events that have taken place in the Castle grounds over the last 100 years.
The event will run between 2.30 and 5.00 p.m. and admission is free. Donations will be welcomed to the Mayor of Hertford’s Appeal Fund; this year supporting The Alzheimer’s Society in East Herts.

Olympic Torch Is Carried Through Hertford
Thousands lined the streets to see six torchbearers carry the Olympic Torch through Hertford.

The Torch was carried down the A414 London Road in to town where it was passed to MS sufferer Charlotte Brown at The Bluecoats roundabout before making it's way in to the town centre.
It was then brought on to the Ware Road by Jools Smart before being passed to Shelley Sheridan and Neil Burgess.

Foxholes Open Day
Foxholes Farm is holding an open day tomorrow Sunday 20th May.
Visitors to the London Road farm will be able to meet the animals, including cows, pigs, lambs and chickens, as wel as visiting the farm's well stockedf shop.
Other attractions include the farm's tractor collection, a hog roast, Routemaster buses and an educational farm exploration.

Trades Photographic Exhibition
Hertford Theatre is staging an exhibition by local photographer Mark Bryan.

Trading Faces features photos of working people from Hertfordshire, portrayed in their typical working wear with a tool or prop of their profession.
The photos are on display in the theatre's recently refurbished cafe area and is free.

Olympic Torch To Visit Hertford
The route for the 2012 Olympic Torch has been announced, with Hertford seeing the torch on Saturday 7th July, on it's way from Chelmsford to Cambridge.
The torch will be carried by 8000 torchbearers during it's 10 week relay, each carrying it for approximately a mile. Those selected for each relay will be picked because of a "personal achievement" or contribution to their community.
Suzanne Rutland-Barsby, Chairman of East Herts Council said Saturday 7th July would be an important day for East Herts. She said: "I very much hope residents from the towns and surrounding villages will come and see the Olympic Flame as it passes through the district and witness the spectacle of the Olympic Torch Relay. The torchbearers should be cheered every step along the route and we hope organisations and community groups will take up the Local Leader Initiative invitation to hold events along the route."

Halloween Walks
Haunted Hertford Halloween Walks are taking place on Sunday 30th and Monday 31st October.
There are two walks on Monday 31st at 5pm and 7:30pm, whist on the previous day Sunday 30th there is one at 7:30pm.
Ticket cost £4 for and adult and £2 for children with family tickets available for £10. All tickets must be prebooked from the Tourist Information Centre on 01992 584322.
The 5pm walk on Monday also offers a single adult and child ticket for £4.
