Hertfordshire Mercury closing its offices in Hertford
I have just been told the Mercury is closing its office in Hertord and moving staff to Chelmsford in ESSEX. What a sad way for one of the country's oldest newspapers to end. They expect their advertisers to show loyality but reward them with none in return, instead treating them with contempt by lea...

Hertfordshire Mercury
According to latest ABC figures sales of the Mercury (all editions) have fallen by 16 per cent to just over 9,000 copies a week. Can't see it lasting till the end of the year.

Re: "Hertford & Ware" Mercury
It's worth taking a look at the comments on the litter story on the Mockery's Facebook page. It is clear they have seriously misjudged public reaction to their inept reporting. The 'official' response to one complainant iwould be laughable if it weren't so insulting.

Re: "Hertford & Ware" Mercury
"There was a time when The Hertfordshire Mercury saw itself as a part of the community and reported good news and bad. It engaged with and supported the community (remember the Mercury Bus?). Those days have long gone. They now see the residents as nothing more than clickbait. A community to exploit...

Re: "Hertford & Ware" Mercury
Trinity Mirror is no longer interested in sales of the Mercury as they are dead in the water and as soon as printing costs outweigh revenue from sales the title will close. It is all about clicks on the website and Facebook likes and they dont care how they get them

Re: "Hertford & Ware" Mercury
I have been told by someone who works at the Mercury that Trinity Mirror has just announced it is making the MD redundant so the writing is on the wall. Perhaps it would be a good idea for the reporters to dust off their CVs.

Re: "Hertford & Ware" Mercury
Once again this week's Hertford and Ware Mercury front page story is about Hoddesdon. Pathetic, lazy journalism. You get more Hertford news in the Welwyn and Hatfield Times . . . and it is better written.

Re: "Hertford & Ware" Mercury
The post by mattinhertford makes interesting reading. As someone who has been involved in the advertising industry for several years I think it is safe to say that most of the regional press is in terminal decline. However, I do not believe that is a valid excuse for the Mercury trying to pull the w...

Re: "Hertford & Ware" Mercury
Once again pages 1, 3, 4 & 5 of the Hertford and Ware Mercury have little to report about Hertford or Ware. Isn't it about time the "editor" took the trouble to come on here and explain why this once popular newspaper is now an irrelevance to people living here. Over to you Alan Woods.
