Re: Should Parking Be Subsidised?

In response to James. No to subsidy Yes to fuel duty bring increased to cover cost of roads etc. although at 475 a year my RFL probably does that. IMHO, there shouldn't be road tax but the cost of fixing and making new roads should be part of the cost of fuel. It might help to keep the roads quieter...

Re: Should Parking Be Subsidised?

ahh James, you do make me smile with your quote from my post 'However, ask people like MultiDad, who incidentally screams at the idea of subsidies because that's what he unquestioningly reads in the papers, and he would balk at the idea of raising fuel duty to cover the full cost of motoring.' actua...

Re: Should Parking Be Subsidised?

No. simple as that...

whenever I hear the word 'subsidy' I want to scream. If someone pays less than the full price for something, then somebody else (usually taxpayers like me) have to pay the difference.

car park at the bottom of Old London Road

there are two, quite large, concrete boulders blocking the entrance to the car park to all but the smallest cars. the exit is not blocked but has a height restriction stopping larger vehicles entering. is there a reason that anyone knows of? could it be that the 'Wandering Folk' are heading to town..?
