Hear hear James. Hertford not scary to ride in? Are you kidding? I cycle most of my 12 miles a day through central London (Farringdon Road, Embankment..) and it's my ride to and from Hertford North each day which is the time I've had the most narrow squeaks. If the event needs leadership why not offer to provide some. Or rather, if you don't like the camel do not ride it..

No flames but I think you're being a bit harsh. Why not volunteer to join the organsing committee for next year and share your ideas with those who evidently put a lot of work into Sunday's event?

I've used Colin for many years looking after my various VWs, presently our ageing Passat. I've always found him first class, particularly when a VW dealer who shall remain nameless caused a near catastrophic oil leak when undertaking work under a "free recall"... Definitely one of the good guys!
