Abellio have been awarded the franchise for Gerrater Anglia for 2016-25.
Their entire fleet of trains is to be replaced and the frequency of trains from Hertford East will be increased to 3 an hour.

New Trains and Additional Service at Hertford East
Re: New Trains and Additional Service at Hertford East
So, it seems that it doesn't matter how badly their previous performances were, the people in charge of dishing out the franchises have been mesmerised by the shiny baubles.
The man in charge of Abellio Greater Anglia is Dominic Booth. He was the man in charge of WAGN at the turn of the century who turned the Hertford Loop into a complete disaster.
What a great idea to nationalise the railways.

Amongst the improvements, look out for "A customer service regime that encourages the franchisee to be more agile and innovative in the way in which they strive for operating and passenger excellence"
Someone really swallowed the corporate cobblers manual there, although they surprisingly didn't play the 'stakeholder' card.

I don't understand. Everyone moans about the state of the trains and the frequency of the service.
We get new trains announced and potentially increased service and people still moan. They cannot win.
Do people just want to moan? . It may not be perfect but what is? Try looking at things positively and see potential

Re: New Trains and Additional Service at Hertford East
Abellio have just presided over a shambolic four years on the Greater Anglia franchise.
Their "punishment" is another NINE years of a license to print money (that's money you give them as a taxpayer).
They are headed by the man who was in charge of WAGN when it was turned into a shambles.
What makes you think anything will change?

How was it shambolic?JohnSmith wrote:Abellio have just presided over a shambolic four years on the Greater Anglia franchise.
Re: New Trains and Additional Service at Hertford East
I would be interested to know as well.
Yes there were delays and cancellations but if you remove the ones caused by outside factors (persons hit by trains, Network Rail failure, vehicle hitting bridges etc) and just look at ones ostensibly within their control, just how bad were they?
And you cannot use the excuse of failing rolling stock as they have just bought new ones to alleviate that?
Just be grateful you are not on the Southern Rail line, that is shambolic.

Welcoming the new trains and an additional service to Hertford East. However based on previous promises which were delayed or not delivered (eg oyster access which happened approx a year and a half after due date) I'm not holding my breath.
Yes the service has improved but they are going to strive to improve punctuality from below 90 per cent to around 92 per cent. This is not exactly inspiring as either a cure t performance or target....
