Hi,
Are there any real IFA's around any more? Can anyone recommend one personally in and around Hertford?
Thanks,
Dan

Re: IFA
I'm already talking to someone from SJPP - They're not independent.. (which was kinda what i was getting at with my comment about "real")
As i understand it the government changed the rules re: commission etc and it pretty much killed the concept of a genuine independent advisor.

Re: IFA
Theoretically the changes made the whole process fairer as it stopped the IFAs from plugging the products that they would receive the most commission from. Now, because YOU are paying them upfront, as opposed to paying them through the product recommendation, they should be working fully on your behalf.
Just because some FAs are part of the same group, it doesn’t mean that they don’t have the flexibility to offer totally different products and/or services.
I would give David a call and get a feel for him.

Re: IFA
So, here is exactly why I don't like SJPP or similar. The advice fee is a percentage of investment. So the fee for the advice goes up if I invest more.
However, they do no more work if I invest more. So It should be a fixed fee. I want to be in a situation where I can pay for advice if i need it, but also where I can make my own decisions.
So; Once again, is there a genuine IFA out there?
