It's not Diagio as such but Diageo Pension Fund Limited.
Many shopping/retail centres are ultimately owned by pension funds (who have to invest in something other than the stock market if they're not going put all their eggs in one basket). Interstingly parts of the Edinburgh Way retail "ribbon" in Harlow appear to belong to Crown Estates although I've not seen HRH in Subway or Costa recently.

Lots of large companies use their cash funds to finance other ventures. Equipment financing is very popular for this.

I prefer to look at it from a different angle and invest some of my pension fund in Diageo - Guinness anyone?? :D

It might also be worth bearing in mind that the Bircherley Green estate includes shops fronting Railway Street - from Cactus to Lloyds Bank and the premises above.

I noticed yesterday that Cactus were having a "closing down sale".

I understand that Waitrose are canvassing customers today as to their views if the store in Hertford was to close....

Will take a wander down later and give my opinion. ;)

So anyway, I was right then. Not complete twaddle!

Not that it makes a whole heap of difference, given they have now gone. Didn't shop there regularly but I do miss it!
