The sun shines and you suddenly notice how filthy the motor is. Ours currently has a six month layer of dirt/mud/dust.

Better for the paintwork and a clean car looks lovely (but I am a car fan).
And a clean car does show the driver cares in my opinion (off road vehicles excepted, as they should be muddy!

Having said that, our cars are filthy and we just keep running out of time. They all desperately need washing.
