I have been in further email conversation with Andrew Stevenson (councillor) on the topic. The legal status of the urban clearway appears still to be in some doubt and whist the bollards have had some impact on parking of HGVs ( albeit moving the problem) it has had zero impact on the main problem of cars queueing onto the roundabout.
Andrew asked if I am supportive of a public meeting at County hall where we (the public) will be able to put our case to both the council and Police. Once I have a date I will post it on here. I would welcome your support at the meeting to show the communities unhappiness at the lack of progress in this safety issue. Thank you Nigel

I would say the queueing from McDonalds onto the roundabout is definitely worse at lunchtimes.

When Andrew Stevenson came round to my door electioneering a couple of years ago I mentioned the queuing and the problem/danger joining the roundabout form Gallows Hill and suggested maybe a keep clear box at this junction. He said this had been bought up by lots of people and he had talked to highways about it already and said to watch this space. Wheels clearly turn very slowly!

I would come to a public meeting to demonstrate my unhappiness!

Can't they just paint a yellow box on the roundabout near the MacDonalds entrance ?

Then cars who couldn't get in would have to go round the roundabout again, but it would free the congestion.

(Council could make a tidy bob from the enforcement cameras too !)

I have started a petition to Andrew Stevenson in order to trigger a public meeting between the council, Hertfordshire Police and hopefully McDonalds.
If you are interested in helping with the petition or in attending the meeting please contact me on nbow61@hotmail.com and I will ensure that you are copied in on time, date and location.

The queues are indeed back and if anything are worse than before. I think it's incredibly dangerous.

What's the best way to register concern about this now - is it a police matter? I did spot some high viz gents handing around with clipboards a few days ago, I wonder whether that might mean someone is looking into it....

I suggest you contact Andrew Stevenson at the County Council andrew.stevenson@hertfordshire.gov.uk.. I have sent yet another
email to him today. The more people who share their concerns the better. If anyone knows a contact at Hertfordshire Police let me know as it is partly their fault for not enforcing the urban clearway. The urban clearway ( the blue circles with the red x) mean it is illegal to queue on the roundabout.

I didn't know this thread existed, otherwise my last thread on this subject would have been appended to this one :)

I have some indirect contact with Herts Police, but I don't think it would make it any easier than getting in touch through an official channel, would it?

Something I think could be implemented quickly would be for the McDonalds parking attendants to actively keep an eye out (hire staff if required) to intercept these people before they enter the BP and/or keep an eye on people parking to eat/buy food and discouraging them from doing so, or perhaps even telling them to not to. I did suggest this to the franchise, but I didn't get a reply.

I've given up using that BP, life's too short. If something isn't done about it someone is going to get either seriously injured or killed on that roundabout, I've seen HGVs going some speed narrowly miss the cars lined up.
