Just realised that the MOG-HFN trains on the new timetable don’t stop at Bowes Park. There is an HOUR between them. The last one is at 16:40 and then then next one is 17:40. I was advised by station staff to buy a split ticket (and save about £500). This is such a farce. Our train service is awful.

According to this morning's Times, they may hive off great Northern into the new East Coast mainline service they have just created (LNER) in 2021. I wonder how many more "improvements" GTR can implement before then....

I avoid that as the entitled ones tend to fill it up.
What does that mean?
So I get on the train at Hertford East and have the choice of sitting in a bigger seat with more leg room. I take that choice. Why does that make me 'entitled'?

You should be OK. If either part of your split ticket is a season ticket then it's not necessary for the train to stop at the station where you split for the ticket to be valid.

from the National Rail Conditions of Travel:
14.2 If you are using a Season Ticket, daily Zonal Ticket, or another area based Ticket such
as a concessionary pass, ranger or rover in conjunction with another Ticket and the last
station at which one Ticket is valid and the first station that the other Ticket is valid are
the same, then the train does not need to call at that station for your combination to be
valid.

First day of the new timetable.

0942 Hertford North to Moorgate running on time ✔

1012 Hertford North to Moorgate cancelled - oh dear

1042 Hertford North to Moorgate cancelled - uh oh.

Still too early for any info on the 1112.

Not sure what the cause of the cancellations. Rumour is that some drivers are not working their rest days (which they are perfectly entitled to do).

Govia have tweeted that it is not a staffing issue but there are "number of operational incidents".

Tomorrow morning is going to be fun!

I've just heard on the radio the timetable has already been scrapped and an emergency replacement put in place due to problems. This doesn't inspire confidence for tomorrow morning.

Holy Moly!

They are anticipating disruption, due to phasing in of services, until 8 June! The Hertford Loop isn't specifically listed but we've seen wholesale disruption today so it isn't beyond the realms of possibility that we will be affected.

Imagine having to travel on GTR services AND having a TSB bank account.
