Bircherley Green multi-storey car park is in the town centre

There are two multi-storey and five surface car parks in Hertford. These provide a total of 987 spaces.

Short stay charges are 80p for an hour, £1.50 for two hours and £2.20 for three hours. Four and five hour stays are charged at £2.90 and £3.60 respectively.
Long stay charges are £3.60 for 5 hours or £4.40 all day.

On street parking is available for up to 30 minutes in Fore Street and Bull Plain.

Tesco has parking for 283 cars for up to 2 hours. M&S Food also has a small pay-and-display car park for customers.

Smartcards

Smartcards are available for use in all car parks operated by East Herts District Council. These carry a cash equivalent value and can be used with all payment machines in East Herts. A 10% discount applies to 5 hour and all day tickets purchased using the parking Smartcard.

Parking Smartcards are available from the council's Wallfields office in Pegs Lane.

Controlled Parking Zones (CPZ)

There are three Controlled Parking Zones or Residents Parking Schemes, on Folly Island (H1), Chambers Street (H2) and the Hertford East Area (H3). Hours of operation are 8am-6pm Monday to Saturday.

Other residential streets also have parking restrictions during certain hours.
