Re: Bengeo Gravel Extraction

I think Smudger means that n most cases, when they've extracted all the aggregates they can from a quarry, it gets landscaped and returned to nature in the form of parkland/wetlands etc. Because people campaigned to stop it, the obvious alternative to a quarry will be a nice new housing estate Ther...

Well done to the stop Bengeo Quarry campaigners.
They've stopped a quarry that would have been a public park in 20 years time.
Now there will be houses forever.

Didn't put that in the leaflets did they
You're going to have to explain that one to me

Re: Bircherley Green

Have we any further information on what is happening to Bircherly Green? Last rumour I heard was that there is now no longer going to be an hotel, but rumour does not say what will be in it’s place. Also I have wondered why they closed the multi story car park so promptly when I think it is still t...

The midday rule is often not observed these days, even by respectable sites. Re: County Council relocation

Interesting to hear HCC propose moving 1,000 staff to St Albans and, despite it being a news item on this site yesterday, there is still no public announcement on the new site, cost, or justification. I think it was less that 25yrs ago that it saw fit to close and sell sites and consolidate in Hert...

They should insert a tracker into his skull, next to his brain - from what I've heard there should be plenty of room :D
Not sure if it was him I saw pelting down Fore Street this afternoon, hotly pursued by a uniform

Re: Bircherley Green Open space

Would be nice to have it grassed over with a few seats and trees. Maybe we could even have some toilets and a bus waiting shelter if we are lucky. Wre...

Re: Bircherley Green

As for the last application being delayed until after the May elections, my understanding of LGA guidance is that you may “Continue to discharge normal council business - including determining planning applications, even if they are controversial” during purdah. I think the issue here is that there...
