Hartham Common Cafe
Does anyone know what's going on with the little cafe/coffee shop/ice cream place between the playground and Hartham Leisure Centre? It's been fenced off for a while so just wondering if it's being developed. I couldn't turn up anything from a few searches...

Great Northern timetable getting worse
I appreciate this is minor compared the problems on the other parts of GTR's franchises, but I saw this morning great Northern have added another 2 minutes to the morning train timetables. So an earlier departure and the same arrival time. They already added 1 minute in each of the last two years so...

Re: Streetlights Mead Lane
They're supposed to fix it in 20 working days, though admittedly it does just say they "aim to achieve that". http://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/services/transtreets/highways/hhonlineservices/hfr/timescales/ They really are useless at maintaining a safe environment to walk in at night - Bengeo is so da...

Re: Bridge House Car Park to Close
Considering the size of the town, and the limited roads, they should do far more to encourage walking generally (not just to the station). The general state of the walking provision is dreadful (too narrow, uneven, blocked (or partially blocked) by parked cars, partially blocked by overgrown hedges ...

Re: Hertford Bypass
Widening the road might help the traffic jams, but it wouldn't do anything about the fact you've got lots of lots of cars driving through a town that they don't want to be in and the people in the town don't want them to be in. You'd still have Hertford cut in two by a really busy road. Personally I...

Re: The Key at Herford North
Just to resurrect this, I had my Hertford Stations to London terminals season ticket loaded onto the Key and it would never open the barriers at Liverpool Street. It was always accepted by staff but sometimes involved a longish discussion and occasionally them finding a hand scanner and checking it....

Re: Waitrose at Van Hages
That was my thought exactly, though some papers did mention two new stores still going ahead (though I think those were ones already under development). When you read the press release you'd think the Hertford store would be perfect for their new preferred Waitrose store concept of bakeries/wine bar...

Town centre regeneration
Others may have more up to date or detailed info, but there was a piece in the Mercury about the town centre regeneration. http://www.hertfordshiremercury.co.uk/1million-regeneration-project-for-hertford-moves-a-step-closer/story-29693213-detail/story.html Not sure how far £1m goes but I guess it's ...
Re: Drone
As far as I'm aware, there are no privacy laws in the UK. That's not correct - there is privacy law in the UK, and lots of recent case law on it. A particularly useful quote is from Mr Justice Eady in CTB v NGN and Thomas: "The modern law of privacy is not concerned solely with information or secre...

Re: Train cancelled - train crew shortage
I agree they have been pretty poor in the last few weeks - often at least one train in the morning around the time I'm leaving is cancelled and usually a delay as well. The other morning we just sat at Alexandra Palace for twenty minutes with a power failure (presumably on the clapped out train as o...
