Abellio abandon Hertford East

The kiosk at Hertford East has been closed down and all the cleaning staff withdrawn.

I assume Abellio will not be tendering for the franchise when it comes up for renewal.

Steve - you referring to the newsaagent kiosk? That went weeks ago. Or the ticket office which would be a tad more problematic.

It was all locked up this morning at 06.50. Couldn't get in to the main foyer at all.

Yes, I'm referring to the newsagent, confectioner etc. It wasn't their choice to close. This and the withdrawal of cleaners just smacks of a lack of commitment to properly servicing the station.

Doesn't the franchise run up to oct 2016?

Yes, but this level of service isn't exactly going to help them when 10/16 comes along

Which re-enforces my argument. Abellio can't be bothered to employ cleaners and expect the station staff to do it. A bit like expecting office workers to clean their own offices. As I said earlier, this just demonstrates a lack of commitment to properly servicing stations. It's all about cutting costs and hoping the customer doesn't notice. One word = cynical.

I wonder if this is to do with all the west anglia local routes out of Liverpool St (Enfield/Chingford/Cheshunt) except HE being passed over to London Overground shortly, so there is an attitude of not throwing any more money at them. HE is not included but may but managed with them and is possibly its run down is an unintended consequence?

By rail staff do Abellio mean the one member of station staff who is normally in the ticket office ?
