County Council relocation
Interesting to hear HCC propose moving 1,000 staff to St Albans and, despite it being a news item on this site yesterday, there is still no public announcement on the new site, cost, or justification. I think it was less that 25yrs ago that it saw fit to close and sell sites and consolidate in Hertford and now sees fit to move out without even a comment on the possible effect on the town's traders. This could well be an issue that could be played out in this year's local elections and wonder if they have even considered it?
Re: County Council relocation
Seriously? You're commenting in a story that featured in the news section on 1st April. There was an announcement on the council's intranet yesterday.TcfL wrote: ↑Tue 02 Apr, 2019 11:26 amInteresting to hear HCC propose moving 1,000 staff to St Albans and, despite it being a news item on this site yesterday, there is still no public announcement on the new site, cost, or justification. Re: County Council relocation
Afraid I am not clear from your poor communication whether you are saying this was an April Fool's joke? As it has gone past mid-day on that day responsible sites would have removed it and not left it in their News section. If you are saying it is true and was on the HCC intranet perhaps you are not aware that Community Charge payers do not have access? Perhaps clarity in posts is better than condescending comments!
Re: County Council relocation
The midday rule is often not observed these days, even by respectable sites.

The following was posted on the home page of the County Council's intranet (the internal "web" for council staff) yesterday:
"Staff may have seen a story online this morning about a consultation taking place to relocate staff from County Hall to St Albans as the building is no longer 'fit for purpose'. We would just like to make it clear that this story appeared on a non-council website and, we believe, was an April Fool's Joke. It does not reflect the council's accommodation strategy."
FYI the Community Charge was abolished in 1993 and replaced with Council Tax.

Re: County Council relocation
Perhaps you are not aware talk in Hertford over the past three months or so has been that HCC is looking to move staff to Stevenage. Seems it is rather poor at accepting criticism on its position of not being a responsible neighbour having on site parking priority for its staff and expecting the public (Council Tax payers) to park elsewhere. Reception usually suggests visitors and staff use local residential areas, as they can ignore any TROs in place.

Re: County Council relocation
I work at County Hall. There has been more than talk of moving to Stevenage. Staff were written to about 6 months ago saying that it is likely. But not for at least 5 years in my estimation.
