Thanks for posting the drawings Steve, from what I can see it looks like they're eliminating the steps and widening to make the bridges more wheelchair/cycle friendly? Looks a good improvement and I hope they manage it quickly when approved as the recent works on the long bridge across the weir took ages.

has anyone ever considered making this a road?

join up the leisure centre to mead lane - it would reduce town centre traffic, and solve the old cross problems . Sorted! then we get the bypass too and utopia is restored :)

im sure it has been considered and written off for some reason or another?

for the better good and all that...

But seriously, why would it need to be any higher than the foot bridges?

potentially it could be one-way (out of hartham) to reduce traffic. it doesnt need to be a huge thing.

It's such an obvious idea, I assume it must have been discarded in the past for some reason or another - it's that why i'm looking for??

Cheers Steve had a good look and I think it's a great idea . I believe it can only benefit cyclists ,pedestrians and residents of the waterfront and elder court as it will enhance the area through improved landscaping and safer for all to use .... Good stuff !

I live down there at Elder Court and am looking forward to it. I hope they will be of better quality or duration than what is there at present as it is very depressing to see something fixed, and then smashed and out of action for weeks at a time.

I am not in favour of the suggestion above about a new road! Please no!
