Hertfordshire Mercury closing its offices in Hertford

I have just been told the Mercury is closing its office in Hertord and moving staff to Chelmsford in ESSEX. What a sad way for one of the country's oldest newspapers to end. They expect their advertisers to show loyality but reward them with none in return, instead treating them with contempt by leaving the very community they are supposed to support and heading off to a completely different county. Well good riddance, hypocrites the lot of them.

No surprise.

The print edition will be closed by the end of the year IMHO.

TM will be focusing on their LIVE brand - they're already registered hertfordshirelive.co.uk. That being said, with the closure of the Hertford office and relocation to Chelmsford, they will have no presence in Hertfordshire. Quite how they can call themselves a local paper I don't know. TM's stewardship of local media in general has been dreadful.
