Heating Engineers / Plumbers

Post by sdf@hertford » Sun 08 Dec, 2013 4:57 pm

I am looking for heating engineer(s) to provide quotations for replacement of a boiler at a flat in Hertford.
I need a new boiler and would like to discuss options with them in respect of cost and practicability. If anyone has any recommendations of good, reliable and realistically priced tradesmen, I would be grateful to hear from you.
Thank you.

We used Manni for a new combi-boiler fit this autumn, he's a great bloke and did a brilliant job.

Try Advance Heating, we have always been very happy with them. Replaced our oil fired boiler and always service it.

dont forget if the current boiler goes through a void to vent and thats all boxed in you'll need those inspection hatches installed now or a suitable co2 alarm system connected to the boiler which can shut it down (I think)

I can recommend Michael Game. He was also recommended in the previous manifestation of the forum, which is where I came across him, and he did a first class job, reasonably prices, and offered sound practical advice.

Do also try Mick Game: he replaced a couple of radiators for us at a reasonable cost and he's provided us with a quote for a new combi boiler which we'll be pursuing. He also turns up when he says he will and provides sensible advice.

I am resurrecting this thread because we have decided to look into a major overhaul of our central heating system. It was originally done for us more than 20 years ago by James Turner. While we were initially fairly happy with it, we have had various chronic problems over the years, and a series of unfortunate plumbing experiences in recent years have led us to the conclusion that we need to completely reconfigure the system. We are NOT looking for a plumber, but a decent size heating engineering company that will do a superb job. For obvious reasons, we are unlikely to return to James Turner.
There is a firm that has done a couple of large jobs in our road: Taylor Heating (Stanstead Abbotts). Has anyone on here used them. I got one recommendation from one of the neighbours, but I am going to be looking for more than just a single vote of support, and in any case I will be looking for at least one viable alternative company to quote.
