Mark Prisk has announced that he will not be standing at the next general election (whenever that is).

hehe good dragging out of the stats to show how low they've dropped! I'm not sure any political party has ever had so much potential, and done so little with it.

Unsurprisingly, Mark Prisk stepping down, the Lib Dems announcing their candidate nor Charles Walker's knighthood are deemed newsworthy by the Hertfordshire Mercury.

… but cat gets stuck up tree on Ware Road - front page.

I could stand on a Tory ticket in East Herts and get in. Even now..

It's a shame the Magical Musical Mystery Tour didn't happen this year as well, I've enjoyed it in the past

Is that a comment on the Mercury's coverage of this year's event?

I'm not sure how the Musical Mystery Tour relates to our MP standing down.

Our next MP will be Julie Marson who was chosen, mainly by the members of the Stortford branch of the Conservative party, to replace Mark Prisk.

She is a hard line Brexiter who failed to win the Dagenham and Rainham seat in the last two elections.

As far as I'm aware she has no previous links to the Hertford & Stortford constituency.

Selection was somewhat controversial, as the seat wasn't advertised and a longlist imposed by CCHQ
