Work to improve Cole Green Way will see the phased closure of sections between Hertford and the A414 Hatfield Road over the coming weeks.
The popular cycling and walking route will close in four stages to allow resurfacing from Monday 29th March until 6th June.
The first closure will be between Hertford Viaduct and Hertingfordbury, for five weeks between 29th March and 2nd May.
The section between Hertford Football Club and Hertford Viaduct will also close from 12th April until 2nd May.
The stretch between Cole Green Station and the A414 Hatfield Road will close from 26th April May until 9th May.
From 10th May until 6th June the section between Cole Green station and East End Green will close.
The works are part of the Cole Green Way Green Space Action Plan to imorove the surface for all usesr and enhance drainage.
The car parks at in St.Mary's Lane in Hertfingfordbury and at Cole Green station will also close during the works, with Hertingfordbury closed from 29th March for five weeks and Cole Green from 26th April for five weeks.
The Cole Green Way is a 6.2km path following the former Hertford to Welwyn Garden City railway line. It provides a valuable connection between Hertford and Welwyn Garden City for cyclists, horse riders and pedestrians, both for active travel and for recreational use. It connects at both ends to links to the respective town centres, and to a further traffic-free route between Hertford and Ware.
