Hundreds of people turned out for the town's Christmas Gala and lights switch-on on Friday 23rd November.

Disney Characters including Micky and Minnie Mouse greeted visitors, festive craft, food stalls and fairground rides took over the town centre streets, whilst Santa met over 200 children in his grottos at Mudlarks Garden Café and Hertford Museum. Santa also made it up on stage to help the Mayor with the Christmas lights switch on.

The main stage in Salisbury Square featured entertainment from the Simon Balle Big Band, Stage Coach Hertford, Make Believe, All that Soul and Cassana Dance Academy.

The events was organised by Hertford Town Council and sponsored by Specsavers Hertford, Wrenbridge (Bircherley Green Shopping Centre redevelopers) and Duffield Harrison Solicitors.

Chairman of Hertford Town Council’s Development & Leisure Committee, Councillor Jane Sartin, said: "It was good to see the town so busy ... I hope the events served to remind people of the wealth of shops, restaurants and services we have in Hertford, and they will come back in the run-up to Christmas."
