Police have issued a statement following local reports that a robbery took place at the Nationwide Building Society in Fore Street yesterday (4th June).
Rumours circulating on social media and in the local community suggest a robbery took place, with the perpetrators being apprehended shortrly after.
In response, Herts Police issued the following statement:
Shortly before 1.15pm yesterday (Tuesday, June 4), police were alerted to an alleged kidnap in Hertford.
Officers attended the area and stopped a vehicle in Railway Street.
A man was subsequently found inside the vehicle. He had sustained minor injuries but did not require medical treatment.
Three people - two men and a woman - have been arrested on suspicion of kidnap and remain in police custody at this time.
Enquiries into the incident are continuing and anyone with information is asked to contact the non-emergency number 101, quoting ISR 383 of June 4. You can also report information online at www.herts.police.uk/report
The building society remains closed until further notice.
