Hertford Town Council recently elected Cllr Rosemary Bolton as the new Mayor of Hertford at the Annual Meeting of the Council, held at County Hall on 16th May 2019.
Cllr. Bolton has been a resident of Hertford for over 30 years and was re-elected to the Town Council in 2016. She has been active in the Hertford Community for over 25 years. Her consort will be her husband of more than 30 years, Mr Andrew Bolton.
The new mayor's chosen charities for the year are Carers in Hertfordshire and Herts Young Homeless.
Long serving Town and District Councillor, Cllr Mrs Sally Newton was elected Deputy Mayor for 2019/20.
Cllr. Bolton said: "I am delighted to have been elected by my fellow Town Councillors to be the Mayor of Hertford for the next civic year. It is a great honour to represent the town and people of Hertford and I look forward to a busy but enjoyable year meeting as many people as possible".
The role of Mayor is purely a symbolic one, representing the town at civic occasions, as well as at events held by the town's schools, clubs and charitable organisations.
