Does anyone know if there is a public fireworks display in hertford this year?

I would have thought that there would be one on Hartham Common but I haven't seen anything publicising a display anywhere in Hertford. I didn't even get to see too many from teh Rave on Saturday either!

Hertford is something of a dead patch when it comes to firework displays. Only for a couple of years was there anything, and that was at the end of the now defunkt Medieval Night.

Bengeo Primary School are holding one - it's open to the public. There are quite a few fluorescent pink posters about in Bengeo promoting it.

I tink I have seen some posters for one at Sele School, failing that I believe that the Neighbours of John Smith put a pretty decent disply on, Perhaps he could make a few quid out of it for his trouble[:D]

I would suggest a trip to Ally Pally which is normally worth it and not really that long to get to/from. But I'd check what sort of disservice WAGN will be providing first.

I once worked with a guy (alledged ex SAS) who on fireworks night stood on his back doorstep with a hose putting out every firework that next door tried to light as he had a 2 year old daughter asleep up stairs. Very funny, but if I had lived next door I would have gone to a display!!

New laws on fireworks http://www.dti.gov.uk/fireworks/fire_you/new_leg.htm You can't set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am except for on 5 November when you can set them off until midnight and New Year's Eve, Chinese New Year and Diwali when they can be set off until 1am. Hose pipes at the ready

I've had a leaflet through my door about the Sele School display. Main details: Saturday 5th November Gates open: 5.30pm Bonfire lit: 6.15pm Best dressed Guy competition: 6.30pm Fireworks: 7pm Admission in advance: Adult £4, Child £2, Family (2+2) £10 Available from the school & Hertford Tourist Information Office On the night: Adult £5, Child £2.50

Sele School was good, but seemed to end on a bit of an anti-climax. I don't know if a number of BIG fireworks failed to ignite, but it sort of spluttered to an end. There was 20 seconds of darkness and silence and then the bloke on the P.A. said "err......thats it! Thanks Everyone!!!" [:D] Other than that it was very good with some impressive displays and a bit of J.M.Jarre on the PA for atmos. [8D]

I find attempts to add atmosphere by trying to blast music across a large open area while explosives go off above your head a distraction. They are fireworks. They go bang and make pretty colours in the sky. That's enough. And listening to the ooooohs and aaaahs adds to the occasion. Why drown them out?

i got my old albums out sunday (we could hear the muzak from the garden). reminded me of the time i braved hurricane conditions to watch his live show in the docklands. happy days.

The music was the only - point from the St. Albans display last year. Didn't make any this year, apparently there was a good dispaly in Cheshunt?
