HN Season Ticket Rip Off again?
I see below this has been touched upon before but anyway.
A season ticket to Alexandra Palace from HN = £1040
A Zones 1-3 season ticket on Oyster = £1156
Total = £2196
This is a saving of £588 on our Gold Card price of £2784.
Am I missing something here? Or is this the price we pay for the joy of being able to use HE and WGC too? Mind you, Alexandra Palace also services WGC so perhaps it could be used there? Assuming I'm not just missing the point in the first place of course.

I'm just glad that by complaining to WAGN they haven't closed the loophole so I can get another cheaper ticket this year. I think it's actually cheaper if you get the Zones 1-3 Oyster and a season ticket from Bowes Park - Hertford North, as Bowes Park is border zone 3 & 4.
A wise owl on this very forum told me that.

Thanks. The only reason I went for Ally Paly was due to the WGC option. But if that turns out to be irrelevent then Bowes Park it is.
Frankly its a disgrace we're having to looking into things like that further. I was thinking of starting a passenger rail union in the summer (before the bombings) as an alternative to the toothless mob that currently exist for this very reason.

I have a season ticket from HN to London Stations (just cost me £2024 by the way). You imply that this is valid if i go to WGC. Is that correct?

The tube gold card allows you to use WGC and Hatfield I don't know about the non tube one (which I guess you must have if you only paid that).

The saving that you make on the HN to Bowes Park + Zones 1-3 Oyster will pay for loads of journies from Ally Pally to Hatield / WGC or Northumberland Park to HE. The Zones 1-3 oyster coers you from Ally Pally or Northumberland Park to London.

There's no "loophole". Having an annual season ticket straight into London allows the commuter the choice of also using the Hertford East line. Although the One services are pretty crap it's still good to have the choice, which ,of course would account for the extra cost.

you still have the choixce anyway, because if the Hertford North service isn't running for any reason, tickets are accepted on ONE trains. That's got to be the only reason that anyone who used the Hertford North service would ever use the Hertford East Service (if you can call it a service). Even if I needed to get to Liverpool Street, I'd still use the Hertford Norht line and tube it from Moorgate.

HE option has been my choice over HN following onset of underground phobia. Until the recent timetable change and driver debacle etc, it was actually a better, more comfortable service. (And Moorgate to Liverpool Street is no more than 5 mins walk, which is probably as quick or quicker than tube, by the time you've waited for a train, got through the crush etc.)
Now, a job in Hertford is my preferred option!

Everybody is employed in the IT sector, nobody WORKS in IT. At least I don't call it work anyway
