Cost of short term parking
I will be coming into Hertford during the next few days,are both Gascoyne way & Birchley green car parks pay & display?
Also,how much & for how long?(i should only need to park for about an hour)!i really just need to know what coins to have handy.

Yes, pay and display, but make sure you buy a ticket for an adequate amount of time as you can't buy a later "follow-on" ticket.
Up to 1 hour - £0.50
Up to 2 hours - £1.10
Up to 3 hours - £1.70
Up to 4 hours - £2.20
Free after 18:30 and on Sundays

Not quite Hertford. Visited friends in Dorset, do it a few times each year. Bought a short stay parking permit for £8 for the year. Would be great if Hertford could have a similar scheme.

I've had a good idea. Car parks aren't really my thing as I can't actually drive, but why don't you take some of each type of coin with you? This way you're covered for every eventuality.

Locals parking
As someone who has lived in Hertford for many years I often see people who live about a mile away (like me) parking in the town. I think local people should be walking more and even cycling (god forbid)
- we all get in our cars too much. People who live near me often have NEVER walked into the town, they drive or get lifts all the time - can you believe it!!

Make sure you park in the bottom floors in Gascoyne Way, as some of the spaces on the upper floors are long stay, and one floor is half short and half long stay
