The Fair
Seeing "the fair" mentioned on another forum reminded me that we took our children to Hartham at beginning of easter hols for this extravaganza! What a disappointment and a rip off! There was nothing there to speak of. OK the rides were £1 but the side stalls were £2 - total con. Shouldn't be allowed!! If Hertford is going to have a fair it should at least be a half decent one.

Does the council get any money from the fair operator for allowing them to use the land?

How about the inflatable slide.........
It wasn't £1 for 5 minutes like any other inflatable at a standard event........no, £1 got you one slide down the inflatable. Granted, £1.50 got you 4 slides but they are over and done with in a couple of minutes.

I see the large rides as possibly the only things at the fair that warrant the charges. I assume there must be a significant cost involved with buying and running them. The rest is a shameless rip off.
