Has anyone on North Road managed to get a digital TV box or digital radio to work? I live on this road near St Joseph's. Have been told we probably can't get it but want to try, don't want to shell out any dosh if its impossible... thanks

You could ask the guy's in Albany Radio, Fore Street. They give, honest advise. Despite Mr Tigger wanting to buy a DAB Radio some time ago, they said wait - reception at your address will be bad. Tjey see more than the potential £ signs.

Freeview.co.uk's postcode checker says no for postcoe "SG14 2BY" - this is the St Joseph's postcode. Mind you, their website said no for our postcode too and it works fine. I understand this is because they just tested the signal flying a helicopter over the area, and it is a bit hit and miss. Best bet is to borrow a mate's digibox overnight.

Freeview wont work if your ariel is pointing at the Bengeo Transmitter.

Thanks all. Going to take Tigger's advice and try a radio out. A friend in Peterboro looked up his postcode on the website and the scores for my postcode and his are almost identical (i.e. reception will not be good) yet he can get digital radio really well (his 'Pure' radio rates the reception at 98 percent!).

The problem is that Hertford (and Ware) sit in a valley with the 2 nearest main TV transmitters are on the other side of the hills. Reception is OK at the top of the hills but a bit hit and miss at the bottom, that is why signals are relayed from the Bengeo water tower down into the town. When analogue TV is switched off it is likely that the Bengeo Tower may be converted to digital to overcome this problem.

So when our glorious leaders switch off analogue (as they are about to start doing in other parts of the country) will we all head to the library as TV will be unavailable?
