I don't really know where to put this message, in the Pubs or the Restaurants sections, but tonight at the Hertford Club A.G.M., the members voted to ban smoking. So any of you who want to enjoy a non smoking environment, this could well be the club to join.[:D]

I think you would need to be recommended (although they may have stopped that system) I know you, and would be happy to recommend you. They don't have children in the club in the evenings, however, they do have events for children, and children are always welcome in the garden. The real advantage of the Hertford Club is its old traditional surroundings, and that you can get a seat on Friday and Saturday nights when pubs are really full.

Tulip, you could just go in and speak to Tony at the bar, you may be able to join like that.... otherwise you need to find a member to join you in. A couple of years ago, I suggested a Hertford Online get together, and suggested it should be at the Hertford Club, unfortunately I forgot I wasn't going to be in the country at the time I organised it. I would be very happy to organise another one of these at the Hertford Club. That would give people a good opportunity to join if they want to, or indeed find out if they want to join. If there is the interest I could organise something for September (when I am definitely in the country!!!)

Ray by the Beane They have yet to decide the logistics of comprehensively implementing the ban, but as this moment there is an immediate ban on smoking at the bar or the resturant tables. But there are still some bar tables where smoking will be allowed continue for a short while!!!???? That's interesting because that is certainly not what the motion that was voted on, the motion called for a complete ban inside the club.... so I will be very interested to see that the members' wishes are carried out, and not the wishes of a few inconsiderate smokers. If the votes of the members do not matter at the A.G.M., what on earth was last night all about!!??
