This week's traffic
I hope that the powers-that-be have also been stuck in the horrendous traffic in and around Hertford this week and begun to realise exactly what effect their tinkering with the roads is having.
The A414 is more like the M25, Old Cross is back to it's usual state and the queue to get there from the 414 past Castle Hall is holding up traffic on the dual carriageway.

couldn't agree more. i commute to haringey every day, down the A10. It used to be that once I pulled off the A10 I had a 5-10 minute journey up to bengeo. Now, it's more like 20 minutes. Yesterday I was unable to pull off the A414 roundabout into parliament square, and ended up blocking traffic in all directions.. apologies if anyone was affected by this, but there was nothing I could do! Why is it that the traffic flows so much better when the traffic lights break down? What exactly are they trying to achieve????

The traffic may flow better when the lights break, but have you tried to cross that junction on foot when they're out?

Traffic! One day my bus took longer to get the 1 mile into Hertford than I would usually take to walk. One we get some Traffic Wardens again (we live in hope, though that will add another 10% to our Council Tax no doubt) i think it will improve. Cars park everywhere. Talking of improvements - in what way has St Andrews street been improved?? I think the new tarmac road is great, but walk on the newly paved pavement and take a closer look. Very sub-standard work. It was better before. Doesn't look finished. They are supposed to be doing further along towards North Road so that will be fun. More buses would take all the parents off the road and ease traffic in the morning 'rush' hour.
