I have to say, I like it.
The only place in this part of Hertfordshire that a Westcountry lad such as myself can get PROPER scones. I'm amazed that it's so difficult to get hold of them. Waitrose don't do them, Tesco only do FRUIT SCONES - FRUIT SCONES, I ask you, what's that all about?
On a summer Sunday garden party, there's nothing better than a proper scone with decent strawberry jam. Well done, M & S!
(and for the un-initiated, 'scone' is pronounced as in 'bone' not 'gone'. And the only proper way to eat 'em is clotted cream (which you CAN get in Tesco) on first, then the jam. Not loike 'um Cornish buys what put jam arn first and then um cream. That be loike um cake that way..

It's M&S – you know what you will usually find there. Some things I like, some things I don’t.
The best bit, for me, is their opening hours: open till 9pm (I think) during the week and even better they are open till 5pm on Sunday when nearly every other super market has shut.

Open til 8pm in the week - I've got caught out thinking it was 9pm!

Sorry mate - I worked in the baking industry for 30+ years and regardless of what dictionaries tell you, the preferred pronunciation is definitely "scon", not scone as in bone. I used to export 30 tonnes of "SCON" mix each week to Denmark (containing extra salt would you believe). The company I worked for manufuctures all of JS scone mix too!
PS Have you tried M&S Cheese scones? They are good. Plenty of cheese on the inside as well as the outside.

Delicious with damson jam. Try the cheese scones from the stall at Herford Farmer's Market (this weekend?), they are gorgeous.

Maybe - but I have a sneaking suspicion that by the time I've gone out and bought all of the ingredients, the baking tray, the oven proof gloves, the burn ointment & the Elastoplast et al that I might just as well have spent 55p per scone and saved myself all of the faffing about!
