M&S Car Park
Afternoon Everyone. Long time no post! Just wondered if anyone else had suffered my misfortune last night with the M&S car park. I pulled in at 8:50pm to park the car while I watched the 2nd half of the England game with some mates in the Sportsman. I left the pub at around 10pm to find the entrance/exit to the car park blocked by two locked bollards. My issue is that the only notices mentioning about the car park being locked at 9pm and re-opened at 8am the following day were actually inside the store. I wouldn't have seen them since the store was already closed when I arrived and I was pretty peeved to learn I had to leave my car locked in there all night.
Now, I fully accept that I shouldn't park there if I'm not using the store, but they should surely display more promenant notices in teh car park itself stating that you risk your car being locked in.

Thefair ... I think you have answered the question in your post. Surley it's common sense that The M&S Car Park is for M&S users only and you should have anticipated that the gates will close at M&S Closing time? .... It's like complaining about a car parking ticket if you've gone over your alloted time? .... bet you won't park there again!

but what harm is it doing parking there outside of store hours? Wouldn't even mind if they levied a charge for the service

I feel for you, I'm sure it was a pain at the time, but M&S shouldn't have to pay for an extra sign, just in case someone wants to park on their land.

I would guess that their insurers would be unhappy about the general public being allowed to use the car park outside business hours.

It's probably got even worse since it was made known to the Saracen's 'clientele' that they would not be welcome back in the pub when it re-opened. So, those with an inclination to noxious substances other than drink and ciggies, or women eager to ease the troubles of men whose wives/partners don't understand them go elsewhere....which just happens to be the pub opposite M & S.

To my knowledge, there's no law about visiting a boozer and then driving home. Especially when they lock your car up for the night
