Where is the best place to go? Also what are the prices and opening times?

You have various options....Hartham Pool near Hartham Common is probably the closest but the changing rooms are always filthy! There's also a pool at Cannons if you're thinking of joining a gym. My personal favourite (I know it's not in Hertford) is Herts Uni campus pool, £4 for a swim, open 6-10 all week very clean and relatively few people (plus other hours but I never go at those time so couldn't tell you exactly when they are open). If you're a good swimmer there are also clubs you can go to. I swim for Hatfield Masters club (over 25s) - we swim Mon/Fri 8.30-9.30. There is also a Herdford Masters club (Hartham Masters) who swim 7-8 on a Saturday morning (that was far too early for me!!!!).

I like the idea of a pubic changing room, it will give everyone a chance to try new colours and styles. It's amazing the transformations that can be achieved with some gaffer tape, stencils and rag-rolling. "back, sack and............. " Are you referring to what I think you're referring to? Sensitive souls could feel offended. However finding pubic or public pubic hairs (as they were er, discarded... in a public place) is not particularly enjoyable to find on one's soles. Nuff said methinks...

Best place in the summer by a country mile is Ware lido. Very nice surroundings and decor and a caff too. Last time I looked tho they closed weekday luchtimes which is a pity for anyone who works there.

Hartham pool has received a lot of criticism I believe unfairly particularly when it comes to cleanliness. May i suggest that it is as much about the customers as the pool. When taking my sister to a swimming lesson as I was a spectator I put on the shoe covers onto my shoes to keep the changing room and pool area clean. When I stepped into the spectators enclosure I noticed i was the only one that had done so. It is the responsibility of Hartham pool to maintain cleanliness but this is severely hindered if it's patrons do not follow its guidelines.

When I was younger, we'd take a picnic and swim in rivers. I wonder if we were always at risk of Wiel's desease and just lucky, or is it something which has become more dangerous? Anyone know?

I may seem a little prudish but surely these references to pubic hair are somewhat distasteful? The very idea of such a discovery in a public bathing place would is disgusting enough but to make light of it only condones the mindset of those possessing such a level of personal care they wouldn't check before vacating a cubicle that it would be as they would wish to find it?
