does anyone know of any local poker games - not talking the "big stakes stuff", more the friendly ten quid tournament style?

Wasn't being cynical andymc. Poker is a lottery, just like going for a job as it is the luck of the draw, in my opinion. Sorry if I offended.

I disagree - there's more skill than luck involved. If you are playing Texas Hold 'em, which is currently very popular due to it being televised, you can fold a bad hand or use your skill, wits, judgement and poker face to frighten off your opponent and win.
We play at home with friends, andymc. Why don't you do the same?

I have played at the snooker club in Ware, however from 40 players I came 6th won £50 (for a £10 buy-in), but didn't finish until 1.30am so didn't go back - took far too long for me!. I was looking at trying to get together friends to play but only have one friend who plays, not sure about the licencing laws but who fancies putting together a friendly game in top room of a pub or club, but not for silly money.
Email me if anyone fancies it.
