Firstly I would like to make it public that although I seem to get all the credit for Farmers Markets it really belongs to Carole Skidmore at East Herts. She has sourced, checked, accredited every producer and stallholder; been to their premises, done the layout, organised the setting up and dismantling and done much of the marketing and advertising. All I manage to do, and forgot this time - was to put the banners up. I know she will get very embarrassed if she finds out about this post but it's only fair. As for the film crew. The BBC rang me last Wednesday as they are producing a episode of Christine's Kitchen? and one of her students had a stall on Saturday. She is doing a market in Bolton next week and as part of the series used Hertford as an example of how one is run - and run well I hope. I catch a bit of 'Life begins ... ' with Caroline Quentin. Granada wanted to use the old Pearces shop, now Loftcat, for three months location shooting after refitting it as a travel agents. I was a bit disappointed that the administrators had just sold the lease to Loftcat. Nothing against said shop but it would have been good to have Hertford as the backdrop to a prime time TV series and not a cable channel watched by the missing millions.
