Town Centre Weekend Roadworks
Does anyone know the purpose of the roadworks that have been taking place in the town centre the last two weekends? There were temporary traffic lights at the junction of South Street and Railway Street.

It may have something to do with the building work next door to The Perfect Smile as they have been having drainage work done on the actual building site to cater for the extra properties that are being built. I may be wrong though.

Perhaps I should add that the work was being done on behalf of EDF, so it's something to do with electricity I think.

I would guess that the new hotel will need a fairly large supply to cope with kitchens, air con etc. Plus the added fact that the supply to the town centre has been known to fail on more then one occasion.
