I went for lunch in The Stone House on Saturday and there was an Accordian band from Hertford's twin town in Germany playing there in the courtyard. There were just 20 other older Germans enjoying the band and either their or our mayor (I wouldn't know) - well a guy in a chain anyway! I asked a member of the bar staff what the deal was and she seemed rather bemused by the whole thing and said that they wrote asking if they could use the courtyard and they said yes. I was about to rant about "why wasn't this advertised" but I notice from google's cache that it was indeed in the "What's on" section of this website marked as a free concert. So, I was wondering where else should I be looking for details like this? Was it widely advertised and did I just not notice? (The first I knew about it was when I saw the German coach parked outside - there was no notice outside the place). I assume there were some other official council events laid on for the visitors? It just seemed a bit rubbish that they would travel all the way to their twin town with a band in tow and then sit in a near-empty pub just listening to their own band with no extra local audience (well apart from sniggering locals staring at them breifly from inside the pub). I would have gone and mingled if I was more confident (more beer needed!) and the missus hadn't already strictly planned out my day (I'm still trying to persuade her that you're not supposed to do much at weekends!)
