Old waterwheel.
I've been to the Mimram, just off the B1000, with the family.
Apart from plugging it as a great place to stroll I noticed a rusty old 6ft waterwheel on the far side.
It is housed in a low walled 'block', about 8ft by 10ft and there's a small channel that enters it at a right angle which fed it with water. Anyone know what it was used for?
Also, there seems to be only tiddlers in the river, what are they?

Go past the Tewin turning on your right, then down the hill (which is a winding stretch of road), at the bottom you'd pass the road to the Panshanger aerodrome on your left, then almost immediatly there's one or two white houses on the left on the B1000.
There's room to park off the road near them and then across the road and over the fence.There's an old stone bridge across the Mimram...it's near that.

I think the second one is closer, tewin Mill house is I belive what used to be the fish farm.
I am working At Tewin Bury on a wedding at the weekend and I think they own some of that land so will try to find out for you what it was.

Yes, I agree that the second map is closer (thanks folks for posting BTW). the mill must be about where you suggest Marilyn since what I saw looks almost like it was almost used for doing something near the fields from whence the crops came.
It will be interesting to see if you turn something up.

I have not forgotten, the man I need to ask was not there when I went but when I see him I will ask and see if he knows what sort of mill it was and when.

Just found a small building at that location on the 1766 map looks like it could be something to do with a large house called "Marden" I will let you know if I find anything out
