any shops that can help?
Im putting ona chairty gig at The Square in Harlow and its in aid of cancer research and i was wondering to any shop owners in hertford, or if anyone knows of any shops that would be willing to put up an A4 poster in the window of their shop?

Commit a quiet afternoon to walking the streets and going into each shop.

AS someone who knows more than most about this you can only do one thing. Walk the streets and ask. Generally and whenever possible most shop keepers will try and help esp charities - on the other hand there are more chains and multiples than you might imagine and if anything goes in the window or in the shop an Area Manager will have them removed asap (the poster that is - not the staff).
Also some shopkeepers are wary of putting one poster in the window as everyone and his missing dog wants to put one in as well. So back to the first sentence - ask politely, don't get upset about a refusal and generally all the town will try and help.

I also have experience of this and I can warn you now that there are not many that will do it. Try these:- Sunlight Chinese and the gents hairdressers in St Andrew St, Roses Cafe, the sex shop (behind the court house), The Empire Chinese (bottom of port hill).
Also I would advise going round with flyers on the Friday/Saturday night before the gig, take them round The Duncombe Arms, Blackbirds etc..... It would also be worth speaking to the Marquee, be humble with them as they will have live music on the same night as you but as its for a cancer charity you might be surprised. They might allow you to flyer the tables or put flyers on the entrance/exit door. They were very obliging when I was doing a similar thing!

Our window/wall space is regualarly festooned with posters/adverts for local events. Pop in and speak to the boys and say that "The Wife" sent you. :)
