New Multi-storey car park
Apparently there are plans to build a new multi-storey car park on top of the current parking places in Old London road (next to the Fire Station)
Does Hertford really need more parking?
Do we need another eye-sore like Gascoyne Way to greet visitors to Hertford?
Are the planning department going to agree yet another blot on the landscape which we will all have to live with for the next 50 years?

Most certainly Hertford needs more parking - for both short stay shoppers and workers in the town centre. However, I would hope that any "multi-storey" on London Road would be low key.
The Gascoyne Way multi-storey was built at a time when there was less respect for heritage.

Another car park is not the most attractive of sites. However, the parking situation in the center is disgusting. People are allowed to park whenever and wherever they like especially at night. Do the police do anything about the illegal parking which is the same every night. No chance - overpaid wasteage. As for the increase in car crime, don't get me started.
Where exactly are residents supposed to park?

If memory serves, police traffic wardens are being withdrawn and replaced with wardens employed by the local authority. The police have often claimed that they don't have the resources to deal with the problem and/or only act when they received a complaint. This is true of a number of traffic measures put in place by the District Council that the police have neither the time nor manpower to uphold.
