Apples going free
If any one wants any free home-grown, pesticide free etc bramley apples they are welcome to pick them off the tree. The tree's in lower Bengeo and needs to be stripped of fruit - preferably all in one go - before it's too late.
Any takers?

Good try Farrow&Farrow although I tried asking before and did not get any takers. So if anyone takes up this offer they can come round to mine (port vale) after and strip my tree as well!
Have just scoffed a delicious homemade apple crumble made with star anisee and cinamon sticks, very fattening lots of butter....can give you the recipe if you like. Last week was pork cooked with apples, white wine and tomatoes followed by french apple tart.....anyone got any other ideas I am going to look like a bloody apple by the time the tree has finished producing [V]

I know of someone who has the same problem but with crab apples. Is there a WI in Hertford? They may be interested.
Have you tried making calvados? Or just prepping them and putting them in the freezer for the year's use? Apple strudel: mmmmmmm!

I dont think I would be able to strip the tree but would love to collect a bag of apples/ or windfalls if you have any. I can give you a pile of magazines in return if you would like them? mainly 'homes and gardens' national geographic and womens mags.

Gillp & Frazer I have emailed you both directions to my garden, please help yourself to them. I have warned the other half that random people might walk into the garden and pick the apples so that he does not get any nasty shocks[:D]
I like the freezing idea.......might see if I can find a recipe for apple sauce that can be frozen, then I can keep it until Christmas. We need a chef [:D] Justin, any ideas?
