There are two butchers in Ware, Pickett's on the Kingshill parade and Gannon's in East Street. Both are excellent.

You can buy locally reared beef direct from Foxholes Farm and locally reared pork from Millennium Meats at Tewin. You can buy Braughing sausages at Farrow & Farrow.

A 'photographic shop / showroom' - Seems a bit out of the way for such a shop. I presume the prospective owner has an established client base and a good reputation that customers will seek out, as he/she won't be able to rely on much passing trade. Mrs Lemonjelly and I will miss the butcher's shop, we've always had the best steak from there.

Well I wonder what sort of photography it will be. Will they sell camera equipment? (we have a perfecly good shop already in hertford) Or will it be a Photographic Studio? (we also have one of these too on St Andrew Street) I wonder if the showroom part will be for local artists?

Thats strange I had heard on the grapevine that the person taking over Auntie Olives is also taking the butchers and continuing as a butchers selling Halal meat as well. We will have to wait and see what turns out to be correct I guess.

Hot off the press! I have just found out that Auntie Olives and the Butchers have been bought by the same company. (Marilyn you were spot on). Auntie Olives will stay as it is with more of a mini-market/off licence type of thing going on. As for the Butchers, the new owner asked me whether a take away would go down well in The Avenue and I told him that he'd make more enemies than friends if he did that. So needless to say, he won't be applying to do that. He asked me what the residents would want as he wants a succesful shop to serve the community. Any ideas? I'll be seeing him over the next few days so now's your chance to make suggestions as he has no idea what to put in there.

They've spoiled Auntie Olive's. It's not even called that anymore. The inside is like your average London corner shop now. I don't suppose the newsagent is very chuffed, as the new store owners are selling sweets and crisps.

My personal opinion is to keep it as a butchers. I'm not sure that it would survive though.

Best butchers by far is Reg Newman in Watton at Stone, cheerful and superb local meat. He never sells anything other than local produce.

Well not so much as a another beauty salon, but more of an extension, I they do need it, I have been with Headlines since it opened, way back when, some days the salon is quite hectic,it has a good parking area and other shops to use. I think the butchers struggled, I confess, I never used it, shame on me! The landlord must be happy with the move otherwise he would not have granted permission for Sue to lease, I know she has tried before, without success.It will smarten the row of shops up. I miss Olives I thought it was a good shop, they tried to lease the butchers but where turned down by the planning (I think).

I see from to days mercury that they are still discussing if it is going to get permission, seems a bit odd as it has been up and running for a month, did Sue jump the gun and do all the alterations before the rubber stamp or have the mercury put in details of a March meeting rather than a June one?

I know the salon very well and the owners and her family, I am pretty sure that they wouldn't have started the work prior to any permission being granted. It doesn't seem to ring true... It was a complete eyesore for 18 months, with dirt, dust and a magnet vandals as it was... It has been operating using the extension for about a month now, so I cannot for the life of me think this is right in the paper.. I hope not!
