Water Tower and In car navigation
Does anyone else have problems with friends trying to find you via the in car navigation systems.
I have had 3 recently who left the directions at home and relied on the nav system, one ended up in Church Road, one by New Road by the Church and one in Cowper Crescent and I don't live in any of those roads!
I just wondered how far this problem spreads as I am pretty sure it is something to do with all the stuff on the Water Tower as I live very close!

Doubt its the water tower decorations causing the problem. Did your friends program their sat navs by your road name or by postcode? Some do not take a full 7 digit postcode so are not 100% accurate in that respect. I always try to enter the road name on mine.

I think by postcode, but the stuff on the Tower does affect my walkabout phone and TV reception so I though may be that was it, I will suggest in future the put the raod in!

A while ago I was stopped by a driver in New Road in Bengeo looking for a gym in New Road Chorleywood. Said he had put the address into his Satnav and ended up here. I suspect he thought Hertford and Hertfordshire were the same thing.

I was asked directions from a Satnav Lost Soul looking for Berkhampstead - not Little Berkhampstead, the one Watford way!

Do you mean Berkhamsted, the other side of Hemel Hempstead on the way to Aylesbury?

Serve you right for relying on Sat nav systems instead of using your loaf and using a roadmap!!!! No sympathy... Managed for 20 years without one, think they're a waste of money....[:)]

I agree with you I sent the detailed instructions but they didn't think they would need them so left them at home......Don't have a sta nav myself I still prfer old fashioned maps.

Definitely not a waste of money but they are not infallable especially if the road layout has changed and the latest map is not in the satnav database (new stretch of A10 is a good example in the case of my one). I would not be without mine, if only for the speed camera warnings it emits.
You have to have a rough idea which direction you want to go I think, and have the sense to realise if its taking you somewhere totally wrong. From some of the examples given here, I think operator error may be partly to blame as well as a totally crap sense of direction.
On the occasional jaunt I make into London, mine's brilliant.

Yep, my satav gets awfully confused at times.
They are useful but relying on them is a little stupid.

all the scaffolding on top of the Bengeo water tower is because there changing the transmitter ready for going digital so if your getting your tv from bengeo soon the transmitter will be off air for a while, while they put the new equipment up there.

I hope it is not while Coronation Street is on my Dad will go mad, it was bad enough when we had the power cut!
