Maidenhead yard
Hi, after having been reading this site for a while I've finally managed to register. Not sure if its problems with the site or more likely my incompetence!
Does anyone know whats happening at Maidenhead yard? Went to park there yesterday and there was a barrier across the car park. Have tried searching for info but can only find stuff from 2002/2003 on the councils website and don't know if this is still relevant.
Its a pain cos I've just bought a flat about 10 yards away and it was useful for parking in the evenings.

This is part of the Adams Yard development. East Herts have now closed the car park, ad access to it, in advance of work about to be begin on the redevelopment of Adams Yard. The owners Yellow Circle Ltd are to demolish the old Dark Horse Brewery buildings and replace it with a row of offices with flats above. The application was originally granted subject to a 106 agreement for CCTV in Adams Yard connected to the main network. There was a delay of almost four years whilst they sorted out the problems with the Co-Op who owned the land from Maidenhead Street for a few yards and denied accesover it. This has now been resolved as the Co-op have been given one parking space in return for a right of access. (I still cannot see how any construction vehicles can access site thorugh Maidenhead Street or even Maidenhead Yard given that a fire engine couldn't).
Maidenhead Yard has now been closed to allow development to continue. It was a East Herts car park for users only - being allocated to 21 spaces. It will revert to an allocated space only once work has been completed but 10 spaces are owned by the developers for the new tenants and the remainder at the disposal of East Herts. The vehicles now parked down there belong to tenants of the Seed Warehouse, who have dispensation from East Herts.
The current application mentioned by James is regarding an out building at the rear of Bouquet which fronts Maidenhead Yard.
EHDC are not resurfacing Maidenhead Yard. Part of the 'marriage' with Yellow Circle is that they will donate £40,000 towards the resurfacing of the car park, but in return will be allocated 10 spaces, one less than the maximum allowed.
Although this is the second time that the car park has ben suspended siince August 2005 there is still no definite news on when the development and buiding work will actually commence. Next week, next month, sometime soon is as good as I've heard. There are some legal works to be completed. In the meantime nab, sorry no parking in Maidenhead Yard.
