The Three Lakes at Westmill Farm
Does anyone have any experiences of this restaurant they would like to share? Due to go there soon.

I've been there a couple of times - once for dinner a few years ago and once for lunch a few months ago. Dinner I was very impressed with - it was a while ago but I remember the menu being interesting and the food being of a reasonably high standard. When I went for lunch recently, however, I was less impressed, as the lunch menu seems to consist of mainly pub-type food (all day breakfast, fish and chips, bangers and mash etc.) I'm not sure if this is indicative of a general decline in the standard of food offered between my two visits, or just a difference between their lunch and evening menu.
The place itself is pleasant and there are impressive views out over the lakes and the back (or front, perhaps?) of Bengeo.

I went to a function in the barn last year. The food was fine, but the room itself was freezing as the waiters were running in and out from the restuarant which is across the yard. There wasn't an internal airlock so everytime someone came in to the room we got an icy blast. Also the doors were right behind the stage so people were running in and out behind the after dinner speakers and the band, and freezing us.

The food is excellent. I just don't like the decor. It feels like I'm sitting in my aunties living room.

I've found it good for lunch and evening and a walk to the lakes afterwards is nice too.
I keep meaning to try the Artshed's cafe actually...

I agree the decor is terrible but the view is superb!
Sadly, however, we had a bad experience on our wedding anniversary. We ordered the Three Lakes Wellington (which was the most expensive thing on the menu at the time) but when it came half of it was missing - it was just three chunks of dried meant in a pastry case. When we complained we were told that the chef was very sorry and had forgotten to put the sauce and pate in with the meat. Personally I don't buy that as how can you forget to put half the ingredients in a pastry case, especially the messy half?!
They were good about deducting half the cost of the main courses from the bill but I'm not prepared to take a chance on them again as I suspect they had run out of pate and sauce and were just trying it on.

Half the cost ?! - i would want it all removed as i would have gotten up and left !
