Fresh Christmas Turkey
Not sure what forum to post this in, but can anyone recommend a source of really good organic fresh turkey? I've got my parents down for the first time this xmas and want to push the boat out. Maybe even a decent Goose?

I'm sure most butcher's will be able to get one for you, failing that go along to the next farmer's market and check out the stalls there - there seem to be lots of meat suppliers.
A bit further afield you can defintely get organic free-range birds from Gannon's in Ware and possibly from Picketts too.

A little out of the way perhaps, but Bury Lane Farm Shop, on the A10 just north of Royston, has an excellent butcher's counter and is pretty good for stuff like that. Going to get a goose from there myself.

I went to a butchers last year after goose - they said it wasnt worth the enormous cost in comparison to other options... The butcher in hoddesdon has some excellent duck which is reared locally ( royston ) and I can definately recommend it!

We ordered a Gressingham Goose from Barry Price - the guy who has the lorry in the market on Saturdays - last year and it was great. If we were at home this year would definately get another

Waitrose does an organic Bronze Turkey to order but with all their Turkey lines it's first come, first served.

Does anyone know if the butcher at Sele Farm is a viable option? We need a good bird as well as a leg of gammon/ham - all to feed 17. A source of valium would also be a good idea...

We either get ours from Botony bay near Enfield or the store in little berkhamstead. Only ever had turkeys not sure if they do anything else.

I have bought my turkey from East End Farm near Roydon before. They also sell geese and ducks. They also have a great farm shop. I have also bought loads of meat from the butchers in Hoddesdon. Can thoroughly recommend both of these places.
