Churchgoers hazardous parking
Every weekend large numbers of cars park up along parts of Railway Street near the Catholic Church. Not only does this make it very difficult for buses trying to navigate the narrowest parts of Railway Street adjacent to The Dolphin, but it also further obstructs an already blind corner on the bend by St.John's Street, which I've often seen taken at speed. I'm amazed there hasn't already been an accident here. I've also seen churchgoers park on the pavement outside Charvilles, completely blocking the pavement, forcing pedestrians into the road. There should be double-yellow lines along both sides of the road at this point as parked vehicles along this section are a hazard.

The patrons of St Andrew's are just as bad. Sooner we ban religion the better.

Saturday evening is particularly bad. The cars are parked on both sides of the road and many facing the wrong direction. The church's car park is too small and can't be extended, plus there's little space in St John's Street. Perhaps the chuch-goers should use the car-park in Gascoyne Way as any other visitor to the town would do, or is it a case of needing to be Nearer my God to Thee, which prevents them from walking too far and also of lessening the risk of an accident?

Father Liddle does mention the issue of double parking every so often at the Catholic Church, but I guess as with schools, people now expect to be able to park at the door of wherever they are going.
St Andrews used to use a few spaces in the front of Bridges Court next to the church, but has now lost those spaces to flats being developed. I imagine most of those people are now parking in St Andrews Car Park instead.

I remember a couple of years ago, a churchgoer actually double parked outside Charvilles. The police were called because traffic couldn't get through and were ticketing the vehicle when the owner returned. He actually had the nerve to argue with them, even though he was blocking one of the main roads into the town centre. Very Christian.

Why don't St Andrews speak to the businesses opposite about using the car parks behind their premises. These car parks are not used on Sundays.

I miss the Bells as The Church was a neighbour 'Alarm Clock' The Parking is really Dangerous - 'Three Hail Mary's' and all is OK. Admin, you may get this before anyone else an remove it but they are not safe

If enough people complain to whichever Council department deals with yellow lines, we may get double yellows round that area.

I don't think anyone suggested banning our personal faiths, just suggesting that they have thoughts for the law and others

The Baptist Church at the bottom of Port Hill also has many midweek evening events. That, combined with events at Courtyard Arts, can often make resident parking in that area at night difficult.
Mind, perhaps there is something material in this religion lark (God rewarding his own), as nearly all the cars seem very new [:)]

I dont think opinions should be removed, i just think it's the sort of petty thing the Admin of this site would remove thats all.
