Does anyone know if the Stevenage Sword Dancers will be fulfilling their booking commitments this Friday as part of some sword swinging tour of the town? Also, is this part of any planned activities for the town in the run up to Christmas? Despite being expected to perform at The Ram at 10pm last Friday, they failed to turn up, and enquiries discovered that one of them had pulled a muscle! [:0] I don't think anyone had the nerve to ask exactly which muscle! [:I]

Mrs Wheel and I love the Swords and very much look forward to their performances. We weren't aware of their failure to turn up in Hertford last week, but are delighted that they will soon be performing. If any further news of injury is forthcoming we would like to be advised as we wouldn't like to waste our time standing in a public house partaking of alcohol just for the sake of it. C'mon the sword!

I have seen Sword Dancing performed elasewhere. It owes much to Morris Dancing but without the bladders. Crackingly good entertainment. I had no idea that such an event was being performed locally and shall certainly make the effort to visit The Ram this evening in the hopes of them turning up - pulled muscles permitting! I had no idea such a spectacle could be staged within the confines of a pub, having previously only seen it outside. I assume that all the necessary requirements regarding H & S issues have been implemented in the event of someone being injured by the swords or in trying to avoid them. Does anyone have any idea of other local pubs that are on the tour list?

Stevenage Sword were due to perform at 9.30 pm at the BH last Friday. One of the members came in and apologised that they would not be able to dance, about an hour before the due time. He was to ring us and rearrange. So far, we have heard nothing. I was told that one of the members had injured his leg and I automatically asked if he had cut it on his sword!! I did get a chuckle from the guy.

Well- despite my excitement they didn't turn up last night either! Just as well I suppose as I was at home being poorly. Does anyone have any idea when they might be in town again? [:p]

I did post some concerns about dancing with such dangerous items a while ago but they have since disappearered. I do hope there hasn't been an injury caused by the throwing or swinging of these swords.
