Stansted flight path over Hertford?
I was kept awake last night by low flying planes flying over Hertford approx. every 2 minutes! what is going on? I presume they are taking off from Stansted and the turning south over Hertford.
Last night was really bad - maybe it was the wind direction or something. I though Hertford was safe from such noise!! Anyone else kept awake?

It all depends on the wind direction as to if they fly over Hertford i believe. I think Hertford is also a way point on the landing flight path as you will notice that a lot of planes ease there engines off just as they get over Hertford.
We are on notice of what it will be like if Stanstead is expanded !!!

I think this is a taste of things to come and certain parts of Hertford get it worse than others. Now is the time to campaign against it.. If not.. guess what.. welcome to Sleepless in Hertford!

Actually I made a noise complaint to BAA (which runs Stansted) and they wrote back to me saying that planes WERE circling over Hertford around that time - they were on 'easterly operations' or something, which they have to be approx 1/3rd of the time, and in which case they hang around over Hertford/Harlow etc waiting to land.

There's a Fedex plane that comes over very low and noisy about 6am each morning. Also i reckon we get some planes on their way to Luton.Stevenage gets it very badly from those.

Mmm, I might have to register a complaint about Panshanger overflying me every week-end. Oh, and I must not forget that the local farm now has a cockeral which wasn't there 20 yrs ago.
