Much as I believe this site deserves an award, I am very sceptical about this particular competition. It only appears to exist to generate advertising revenue for Archant publishers. The high profile sponsors are not putting up any money to the awards winner, only paying to advertise on the Archant site. The prize for the award winner is free publicity on the Herts24 website, in the Archant regional free papers and in the one paid for title (Welwyn and Hatfield Times), most of which are outside of Hertford Online's catchment area and therefore of little interest or benefit to readers of these titles, and of no benefit to Hertford Online. Coincidentally, I recently picked up a health life-style magazine from Hartham Leisure Centre and it was the most badly written and badly put together magazine that I have ever read. It was published by Archant for Stevenage Leisure.
